February/March 2021 Newsletter

FEBRUARY VACATION: There will be no classes from Monday, February 15, 2021 – through Saturday, February 20, 2021.

RECITAL: This year's Dance Works recital is tentatively scheduled to be held June 19, 2021 at a venue TBA. Save the date!

TUITION/BILLING: A reminder…tuition is due the first lesson of each month.  A $10.00 late fee (strictly enforced) will be applied after the 7th of the month on all tardy payments. Please put the student’s name on the check to alleviate posting your payment to an incorrect account.  Printed bills are distributed only on tardy payments.

ONLINE PAYMENTS: Every student has a Parent Portal account which may be used to pay tuition and other dance expenses online using a debit or credit card (a convenience fee of 3.0 % will apply on credit/debit transactions), view previous transactions, your class schedule, and more. If you are a current student, please use this link to access your account and make a payment. (New students, please register here.) You may make a one-time payment or choose to have tuition and other dance expenses automatically deducted on the first of each month. We are excited to offer this convenient new option to our parents and students, and hope you'll love it as much as we do. Please reach out to the office with any questions or concerns.

CANCELLATIONS: Please call the studio one hour before your scheduled class time or visit our website for cancellations due to inclement weather – please do not rely on Facebook or Instagram as these may not be updated.  We are sometimes open when area schools are closed.  All missed classes can be made-up.  No refunds.

THE DANCE WORKS COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES

Hello Everyone,

Like the rest of the world, we have created a new plan for dance this fall.  As we continue to be in unprecedented times, this continues to be a long, thoughtful process. We welcome your input as we navigate through these changes this coming dance season. Please review the following protocols and options and reach out to contact@thedanceworks.us with any questions or concerns.

Live Classes
Any classes held at the studio will have the following protocols in place.
  • All Students will be dropped off at the front  door no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of class - NO parents will be allowed in the studio. Upon arrival each student will have his/her temperature taken - anyone with a fever over 100.3 will not be allowed in. Young students will be greeted by a student assistant who will escort him/her to the classroom. All young students should be ready to dance, dressed in leotards/tights only, and have just their dance bag with them.
  • Once in the classroom students will have a 6 foot square area to dance in.   They must stay in this designated area for the entire class.  There will be no dancing across the floor, and barre work will be limited to those classes whose size allows the students to be 6 feet apart on the barre.
  • Masks MUST be worn at all times while in the studio - no exceptions.
  • Students who have more than one class will go directly to their next class - no hanging around in the waiting areas or dressing rooms.
  • Studios will be cleaned and disinfected after each class.
  • We strongly encourage students to use the bathroom at home before they come to class, however we would never deny a student the use of the bathroom. Young children will be escorted to the bathroom by student assistants. Bathrooms will be cleaned periodically during each day.
  • Once the students class(es) end, they will exit the studio by the back door - again young students will be escorted by a student assistant. All students 12 and younger must be met at the door by a parent.
  • Should a student, teacher, or employee of the Dance Works test positive for COVID, the studio must be notified immediately. The studio will shut down completely for a minimum of 14 days at which time all classes will be taught virtually.
  • The studio reserves the right to evaluate these protocols and change them at any time to reflect these changing unprecedented times.

Virtual classes
  • All classes would be the full amount of time (as if you were in the studio). Hour classes would be an hour, etc.
  • Some tips to make virtual classes more successful -
    •  Have a designated space for your student to dance - be sure it’s big enough for him/her to be able to move around.
    • Students should wear dance clothes to each class and have all the proper shoes. Feeling like they are “going” to class even though it is in the home is extremely important.
    • Distractions should be kept at a minimum - no phones, friends, siblings, etc.  Virtual  classes should be treated and respected like live classes.

Hybrid
This would be a combination of virtual and live classes. The schedule for each class would be determined independently based on the size of the class, the age of the students,  and how often the class meets per week.

Virtual classes will always be an option for parents/students whether or not classes are being held at the studio.  All of our live classes will be available on Zoom.

Recital 2020/Costumes
Please be patient as we finalize the plans for costume pick-up, recital, rehearsals, and pictures.  We will send this information out as soon as it is available.

It is Very Important to us to know your thoughts on this matter.  We value your opinion. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to contact@thedanceworks.us.

Although we know that everyone is looking forward to dancing at the studio, our top priority continues to be the safety of our students and teachers. Finding the best way to accomplish both of these is challenging.

Thank you for your time and opinion,
The Dance Works
