Happy October! There's lots going on this month! Here's a list with info and important dates to remember!
HOLIDAY CLOSINGS: The Dance Works will be closed Monday October 8 (Columbus Day) and Wednesday, October 31 (Halloween). There will be NO CLASSES on these days. Please consult your instructor for suitable make-up class times.
ONLINE PAYMENTS: The Dance Works is pleased to announce our new Parent Portal! With Parent Portal you can create a personal account through which you can pay your tuition and other dance expenses online using a debit or credit card (a convenience fee of 3.0 % will apply on credit/debit transactions) view previous transactions, your class schedule, and more. Please click this link and follow the prompts to create your Parent Portal account: https://app.akadadance.com/customer/login?schoolId=AK603160J&c=1. You may make a one-time payment or choose to have tuition and other dance expenses automatically deducted on the first of each month.
We are excited to offer this convenient new option to our parents and students, and hope you'll love it as much as we do.
Please reach out to the office with any questions or concerns.
BRING-A-FRIEND WEEK: October 1st through 7th students may bring a friend to each class they take - and we hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity to share the love of dance! Friends should wear comfortable clothing if they don't have dance attire. Dance shoes are great if available, if not, dancing in bare feet or socks also works. No street shoes in dance studios.
SANTA PARADE WARM-UP SUITS & SWEATSHIRTS: Once again we are participating in the Haverhill Santa Parade, hosted by the Lorraine Post 29 VFW. Everyone is welcome to attend and cheer on our competitive students dancing in the parade!
Additionally, students 7 years of age and older are welcome to march with us! All marching students must wear a Dance Works sweatshirt or warm-up suit.
An order form for these items is available here. Please return your order form and payment by October 10th to ensure we can order the size you need in time. Permission slips will follow soon.
NOTE: Comp Yellow students are doing the dance portion of this year's parade and MUST wear a warm-up suit. Please reply or stop by the office with any questions. Thank you!
PIE FUNDRAISER: We will be doing a fundraiser for all Dance Works students to defray the costs of costume deposits. Proceeds from the sales of the pies will be distributed as follows:
$3.00 for EACH pie you sell will go directly towards your costume deposit bill (which is due November 1st). In addition, for every 10 pies you sell your name will go in a raffle for an additional $25 off your costume deposit bill.
The following pies are available for purchase.
All of the pies are the 10" size. Each pie costs $15.00. All orders and complete payment may be given to Miss Paula by Saturday, October 20th. Orders will not be accepted after noon on Saturday, October 20th. The pies will be picked up at the studio the week of Thanksgiving - specific hours for pick-up will be announced. We take cash or checks (payable to Paula Callahan) for these orders.
An order sheet is available for download here. Please retain the top portion as your record of the pies you have sold for friends/family. Please return the bottom portion only.
Please refer all questions regarding the fundraiser to Miss Paula – firstname.lastname@example.org.
SCOTT FOWLER MASTER CLASS: Broadway, TV and film star Scott Fowler will be teaching a Master Class for competitive students on Friday, October 26th. Cost is $30, and reservations and payment are due by October 15th. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve quickly so you don't miss out! Read more about the class and Scott here!
Congratulations to Dance Works students Maggie Sprague and Lacey Stewart (pictured left) who will be performing as the Harpist and Polichinelle (respectively) in the New England Dance Ensemble's production of The Nutcracker! Performances are November 24th and 25th.
Congratulations also to Dance Works student Maureen Fiorello who will be appearing in Acting Out Theater Company, Inc's production of Shrek The Musical! Performances are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the last weekend of October and first weekend of November.
Get out and support your fellow students if you can!
WELCOME TO THE DANCE WORKS: We hope your summer was fun and relaxing and you are ready for another great year of dance. Please join Miss Gina in welcoming back Miss Paula, Miss Julie, Miss Nikkie, Miss Debbie, and Miss Marianne – and welcoming Miss Helen to our roster of regular teachers! And, of course, Miss Kim and Miss Jodi in the office.
We had a blast at our annual open house on Saturday 9/8, and we're looking forward to getting to know all our new students, and reconnecting with those who've been with us for a while. If you missed it, don’t worry – you can register any time, just email email@example.com!
If you didn’t take your picture with our social photo frame, you can do so any time you’re at the studio. Remember to tag @TheDanceWorksMA on Facebook and Instagram!
TUITION/BILLING: A reminder…tuition is due the first lesson of each month. A $10.00 late fee (strictly enforced) will be applied after the 7th of the month on all tardy payments. (Exception: September late fees will apply on 9/17.) Please put the student’s name on the check to alleviate posting your payment to an incorrect account. Printed bills are distributed only on tardy payments.
We have new studio software and will soon be able to offer individual account access and credit card payments! Watch your email and our website for an announcement near October 1st! Anyone taking advantage of ACH payments last year will need to pay September with a check or cash at the studio until our new account access is set up.
Refer a friend and save! For every family referred get $50 off the following month’s tuition. $50 credit will only apply to the first month and first member of new family starting, but there is no limit to the number of families you can refer!
Referred families must pay current month’s tuition before credit is applied to referring family. So if Jane Smith refers Lisa Jones in October, Lisa Jones must pay October tuition, and Jane Smith will receive $50 off November tuition. Additional details available at www.thedanceworks.us.
Please note: If anyone is ill or needs to miss a class, please call the studio before your class time, this way we know you are aware your child is not in class. The telephone number is 978-683-9390. You may also email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put “CLASS ATTENDANCE” in the subject line.
